Finding Hope in Gratefullness
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story. Those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east to west, from north to south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. (Psalm 107:1–9)
We must appreciate all good gifts from God. If we do not learn to appreciate what we do have, how can we be entrusted with more? We know that the root of all evil is money, so we must be cautious in our dealing with money, so we do not fall into greed and the enemy’s snare. As we learn to put value in what God has already done for us, we do not hunger so much for worldly things. Be thankful at all times—for a grateful heart is pleasing to our heavenly Father.
I cheerfully await the day when I will see you face-to-face again. And so your heart longs for this day, and you will live in the expectation of this day when you fully receive My grace. Search for Me in all things, and you shall find Me. Be thankful in all situations, and you will learn to truly live. As you discover how to live with a grateful heart, you discover the beauty I have created for you to enjoy and use for your everyday pleasures. As you contemplate on My ways in scripture, you will discover that I have already mapped out your destiny, but it is up to you to use the key to find your way. This golden key resides in your heart, and you must be careful to not let the wrong people in to hide it. My son has already died on the cross so that you may unlock the door to your destiny—a destiny that has a road leading to everlasting life on the golden streets in heaven. Give thanks in all situations, and you will discover the right path in the golden streets of glory in life everlasting.
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:5–8)
Prayer for the Day
Thank You, Father in heaven, for entrusting me with all You have given. Please help me to appreciate the small things and to acquire a grateful heart. I choose to live in gratitude each day, and I pray I do not become enticed by the riches of the world. You alone are my portion and cup, and I thank You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
