Believing God's Promises
God promises us strength, eternal life, salvation, peace prosperity, a purpose, safety, victory, fulfillment, power, grace, and freedom.
So then why often do many of us feel as though we are not obtaining these things we are hoping for? Perhaps, because we are living off of our “feelings” and not the “Spirit,” for if listened to the Spirit of God and knew His Word, we would discover than we are already promised these things we just have to believe in them and receive them. The task for us then become getting rid of the hindrances to God’s plan for us.
Do you believe you have these things? If you are not living in victory or with power, or fulfillment it’s time to start believing that you do and then start acting on them. We walk by the Spirit and not the flesh! In Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus puts it like this: “Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” As long as what you are believing for is in God’s will, which we should be praying for each day, than believe and receive the good things God has placed within your heart! Our lack of belief is known as “doubt” and if doubt what we are believing for we are not fully trusting God for what he has already “given” us- we just have to receive it in Jesus name!!
The two things that I believe most gets in our way when we are on the path to our God-given destiny is, the enemy and our lack of awareness of Him and our lack of knowledge of scripture which informs us of the people God so desires us to be……
The enemy looks for every opportunity to steal our inheritance and make us “think” that we are at a loss. But we must stand firm in our faith and believe that even through bad circumstances in our lives, God is working everything out for the GOOD. Embrace your trials and know that God is for you and your troubles will not consume you. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”- Romans 8:28
We must believe in faith and he who is faithful will deliver!
This is why we must read and study the Word of God which is our source of inspiration and we can apply it to our everyday lives. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” -2 Timothy 3:16
Your job for this week is to read the story of Abraham or Paul and relate their stories to your own life.
For these to come to pass…we must believe them in faith because how can we receive something we don’t even believe?
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” -Hebrews 11:1
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6
For Abraham believed God and he credited to him as righteousness….
“Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” - Genesis 15:6
