Finding Hope in Faith
This week we place our hope in faith and God’s promises. Why is it important to have hope? Many of us are easily frustrated in this life and we are susceptible to becoming hopeless. When we are hopeless, are quality of life is lessened as we cannot be the masterpiece that God has created us to be! “And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands.” - Deuteronomy 26:18
This blog is a general guideline for Christian living but we will divide things up a bit as we go so that we can meditate and more easily grasp God’s Word. We take one step at a time in patient consideration of God’s truth. We let His Word really sink in, and as we do so we grow spiritually. The next day, we move on to the next.
I confess I have stumbled in my faith walk with Christ. This happens when I get entangled in the world’s affairs and put them above God. The number #1 reason I began to struggle in life is most assuredly when I stop pursuing a relationship with God which comes through reading his Word and meditating on it day and night. The more I make God a priority in my life the better I am able to handle my life every day because I think we all can agree it can be difficult to smile through the worst of days. When I am in constant contact with God I can trust and believe that even in the worst of situations he is working all thing for my good and so I press on in faith…..
Many of us want assurance in our lives for all kinds of things. We are hungry for security in a fallen world. Unfortunately, many are searching for hope in all the wrong places. Too often, we search for a quick fix. Anything worthwhile in this life takes time. In this way, God can prime us and shape us to ensure that things are done right because we all know that a house built on unsteady foundation will tumble and fall. So let us consider God’s way and build our house on firm foundation so that we can live and enjoy ourselves- God’s way. Consider the following passage for today and meditate on it. Focus today on building your house on solid foundation.
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” – Matthew 7:24-27
“My Word gives you direction and strength; you must seek My Word to discover this rarity. In My living Word, you will find truth that was once vacant in your life, but now this truth will be made known by the call of My name. I am faithful to My promises I have made for you. But you will not ever know them if you do not look for Me. I am never far from your side; rather, I am by your side, urging you to press forward in faith to discover the beauty of life through Me, your Father in heaven. Faith is the evidence of things hoped for but not yet seen. Faith is your awareness of My existence and the assurance that I will follow through with My plans for you. If you are in My will, your plans succeed. Working in My will provides you with many unknown treasures held dear to your heart. As you wait for your breakthrough, understand it is already bursting through the seams of life that are withered and torn. You must believe this truth to see this mighty revelation that is a result of faithfulness.” – Exert from Finding Hope in a Turbulent World: A Ninety-Day Devotional
